Background:
Objective: To systematically review and synthesize evidence on the experiences of postoperative patients with laryngeal carcinoma.
Methods:
We conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed, The Cochrane Library, Psychological Information Database, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Excerpta Medica Database, Web of Science, China Knowledge Network, Wanfang Database, Chinese Journal Full-text Database, and China Biomedical Literature Database. All qualitative studies meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed using the method of meta-integration to synthesize the findings.
Results:
A total of 13 studies were included, from which 52 results were extracted. These results were systematically integrated and classified into 4 synthesis findings and 12 categories.
Conclusions:
The quality of qualitative research on the experiences of postoperative patients with laryngeal carcinoma requires improvement. Patients experience significant physiological and psychological changes after surgery. Healthcare professionals, together with patients and their families, should provide support and encouragement, offer professional and timely guidance, and assist patients in enhancing their quality of life.
